And there’s more. Just this week, a representative from Western Sydney University personally visited our office at Growmore Immigration and confirmed that the news being spread online is not accurate. The university has not placed any ban on students from these Indian states.

This matches what the Australian High Commission in New Delhi also confirmed:

“The assertion that Indian university student applications from specific Indian states are being banned, or restricted, is incorrect.”

So Why the Confusion?

Some universities may be checking applications more carefully due to concerns about misuse of student visas — but this is not the same as banning students from entire states. Unfortunately, some agents and social media channels are spreading half-truths and rumours, creating panic.
